Captain Pieter was born and raised in Seattle, WA. He still remembers catching his first salmon in the San Juan Islands. Pieter enjoys working and playing in the great outdoors, most especially in the marine environment. His easygoing nature and solid work ethic adds to the team environment at IslandView Resort. Pieter has worked in Sitka’s charter industry since 1999, with the majority of those years under his belt as a seasoned captain. He believes one of many positive aspects of guiding is sharing adventure on the ocean with others. “As a guide, I strive to put you on the fish while at the same time sharing the unique and rich environment of Southeast Alaska.” When he is not guiding, Pieter teaches history and geography in Girdwood, Alaska.
